RECTIFYING LEAKING OF PROPELLER SHAFT SEAL FOR CV HAI AN LINK

On 25th and 26th July 2023, MTB ENGINEERING SERVICE CO, LTD carried out to clear trouble with leaking propeller shaft seal of CV Hai An Link at Dung Quat shipyard

Hai An Link is a container ship operated by Hai An Transport and Stacking Joint Stock Company. When the ship went to the docking at Dung Quat shipyard, ship owner discovered that the Aft seal gravity tank of stern tube was mixed with a lot of sea water. Ship owner suspected that, propeller shaft seal was leaking and need support of MTB Engineering When ship on dry dock, technical team of MTB Engineering surveyed and removed Aft seal box, throughly inspection and found all sealing rings were hardened and crow’s feed crack. The technical team has advised the ship owner not to withdraw the propeller shaft. At the same time, MTB techniques also replaced the New sealing ring by bonding technology of Japan Marine Technology Korea New sealing ring by bonding technology of Japan Marine Technology Korea . After the implementation, the MTB technique has conducted a hermetic test to ensure absolute tightness. This saves a lot of costs for ship owners and is highly appreciated by ship owners.
